The effect of diamondoids on the thermal stability of nanocrystalline Mg alloy is investigated. Mg_(90)Al_(10) (wt. %) and Mg_(90)Al_(10)+1 wt.% diamondoids samples were annealed at 300°C for different times up to 6 days. The mechanical properties before and after annealing were studied by micro-compression tests. We found that the yield strength is thermally stable after annealing for the samples with diamondoids, while decreases significantly for the samples without diamondoids. These results indicate that diamondoids are pinning the grain boundaries and then inhibit the grain growth at higher temperature.
