The new variable speed descale system has exceeded the main goal of achieving a 75 percent reduction in rolled in scale reapplies/diverts. In addition, energy savings in excess of 1 Million dollars/annum have been realized. From an operational perspective, the HM now has the ability to match the system operating pressure to the product. Since the last equipment failure was rectified both descale systems have been operated at full system capability, system available has been 100 percent and no delays have been assocaited to the system.
