摘要

The Pearl River Estuarine system consists of a complicated river stream network and estuarine bays. The two portions of the estuarine system are connected by several special morphodynamic units, namely gates which are named Men in Chinese. Gates are made up of the rocky gorges through which the river runs into the estuaries. Based on the hydrographical investigations, numerical simulation and other research, taking HuMen Gate for an example, bi-direction asymmetry jet current system, saddle-shaped section lengthways and morphodynamic characteristic of 'trough-ridge-shoal' breadthways are indicated to be the key characters of the Gate morphodynamics. Further the formational mechanism of bi-direction jet current system is also discussed.
