TIDAL FLOW SIMULATION BY BOLTZMANN METHOD

摘要

Based on the Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook (BGK) Boltzmann theory for molecule motions, numerical method for open channel flows is formulated and a second-order two-dimensional numerical model for unsteady flows is established. This new method has many advantages comparing to traditional methods which based on Saint-Venant equations and it satisfies the entropy condition and thus prevents unphysical oscillations in computations. The high accuracy and efficiency of this method have been proved. This paper demonstrates the main procedures of the formulation of the method and its application to tidal flows in the Pearl River estuarine. The computational results show a good agreement between the computed and measured field dat.
