摘要

Boron as well know increases the hardenability of steel and seems to be able to offer a favorable solution to the needs of PM steels to extend their applications in high loaded parts. In the present work, boron in different forms (elemental boron powder, boron carbide B_4C powder or mixture of boron and carbon elemental powders as equivalent of B_4C) was used in different weight percentages to activate sintering process and increase hardenability of Astaloy CrM alloys, with the aim of increasing mechanical properties in view of structural applications. Tensile and impact specimens were produced with different boron amounts and the influence of sintering temperature on the mechanical properties of Astaloy CrM alloys have been interpreted and discussed.
