Flash Pyrolysis of Biomass for Bio-oil in a Fluidized Bed Reactor

With the view of exploiting renewable biomass as a high efficient and clean energy, research on flash pyrolysis of biomass for bio-oil was carried out on our developed fluidized bed reactor. Biomass was fed continuously at the maximum rate of about 3kg/h directly into the reactor by way of a unique feeder. With the aid of TG and GC analyses, pyrolysis behavior of biomass under high heating rate was researched in detail, by altering the value of reaction temperature, particle size, feed rate, reactor height and so on. At optimum pyrolysis condition maximum bio-oil yield of up to 60% was obtained. Many attentions were paid here to the effect of heating rate and volatile residence on products distribution and component. Especially, how biomass species influenced pyrolysis behavior was analyzed too. As is beneficial to deep understand of biomass pyrolysis mechanism and application of fluidized bed technology in biomass utilization.
