摘要

Mathematical and numerical modelling of natural convection in cylindrical enclosures are carried out. An electric current in a dielectric field is modelled as a directed motion of electrically charged particles injected into a neutral fluid; an electric body force and Joule heat are added to the momentum and energy equations, respectively. On the above basis, numerical studies are carried out to analyze the natural convection in cylindrical enclosures and the heat transfer enhancement by EHD. It is found that EHD can effectively enhance the heat transfer in cylindrical enclosures, and the rate of enhancement increases with the increase of Rayleigh number.
