The basic parameters of structure of porous solid materials are the following: porosity e of material which influences mainly transport conditions of continuous (gaseous) phase through solid material, specific surface area of solid phase, A_(V,s) (m~2/m~3), which determine the thermal processes in superficial reaction zone, and among other things the inflow of substrates (oxygen, moisture) to this region as well as outflow of products. Original method of determination of any bed porosity was developed which has been called thermodynamic method. In the paper, the essence of the method, exemplary results of measurements as well as assessment of its accuracy and usefulness of application are presented.
