Technical and Economic Comparison of Schemes on Combined Cooling, Heating and Power Supply by Burning Natural Gas

In order to offer a decision-making basis for practical projects, four schemes for the basic heat sources are put forward, they are gas turbine units (scheme A), steam turbine units (scheme B), a district boiler plant (scheme C) and gas directly-fired lithium bromide cooling / heating units (scheme D). Electricity can't be generated in scheme C and D. Based on the technical features of each scheme, the investment estimation and financial evaluation are carried out. The evaluation results show the sequence of the schemes in point of investment from low to high is scheme D, C, B, A, and that of financial internal return rate (FIRR) from high to low is scheme D, A, B, C. Therefore scheme A is better than scheme B if power generation is necessary, and scheme D is better than scheme C if power generation is unnecessary.
