While polyester (PET) has many excellent properties, efforts have been made to overcome its limitations such as electrostatic charge, low moisture absorption, dyeing difficulties and a tendency to pill 1 . Other than modifying polyester during production,2 various methods to induce chemical or physical changes to the polyester fiber surface have been investigated. Chief among these is hydrolysis by sodium hydroxide that results in weight reduction and a hydrophilic surface.3 Recent research has also studied the effectiveness of enzymes 4, 5 , chitosan 6 , plasma and laser as modifiers for polyester.
