The assessment of the advanced SNF storage and shipping procedures and calculations of the probable radiation accident effects by storing cores of nuclear Ship's LWR reactors in vessels filled with solidified metal or neutron-absorbing powder, as well as in TUK MBK without additional filler, showed: 1. The possibilities of a number critical accident or the theft of assemblies for the purpose of misappropriation of highly enriched uranium are the most dangerous. 2. A procedure has been developed for storing naval SNF in a vessel with a head closure that may be used for LWR reactors of Nuclear Powered Ships being decommissioned. It allows excluding stages of separate assemblies removed from cores. 3. Core filling with melted heavy metal is especially prospective for NFS and Surface Ships being stored in holding areas with cores aboard for long period of time. 4. The same result is achieved when filling cores with polymers for subsequent solidification; it is more interesting for dried damaged nuclear fuel unloaded from the reactors. 5. Core filling with a dispersed neutron moderating and absorbing material is especially advanced for storing cores with damaged assembles, which are extremely hazardous for the personnel, population and the environment. 6.
