摘要

Building integrated photovoltaic (BiPV) technology has the prospect of becoming a major player in the growth of Australia's renewable energy industry. Whilst the benefits are well understood by specialists in the field, many of the opportunities that BiPV can bring to a new or retrofit building project are not known or poorly understood by owners, design and construction professionals and local government. One of the key barriers to BiPV uptake is the lack of knowledge in the wider professional community and there is a clear role designers will need to play if high quality BiPV projects are to be realised. The Australian BiPV industry is less likely to gain much needed exposure of their products, technologies and services without best practice guidelines that key stakeholders can follow and hence better understand the processes involved.
