Assessment of Soil and Nutrient Losses from Rainfed Upland (Bari) Terraces in the Western Hills of Nepal

Rainfed upland ('bari') in Nepal is increasingly becoming a concern due to declines in soil fertility and poor management. Soil erosion is directly linked to fertility decline because of the loss of nutrients associated with eroded soil. The rainfallthat promotes soil toss also facilitates nutrient loss in solution as runoff and water leached through the root zone.
