The 25x'25 National Renewable Energy Initiative The Role of Woody Biomass

This paper provides information about an initiative to move the US from its current condition in which only 6% of its energy is derived from renewable resources (solar, wind, geothermal, hydro, and biomass) to one in which a full 25% will be from renewable energy by the year 2025. The initiative is being led by "25x'25: Charting America's Energy Future." The paper concentrates on energy to be derived from cellulosic biomass, both from the natural and urban forests and from planted short-rotation treecrops.
