In the public relations class I teach, I tell my students that it's important to tailor the message to the audience you are trying to reach. You don't use the same message and type of media to reach the local chapter of the Native Plant Society as youuse for Tree Farmers. I also tell them that the news media is unique in that it is an audience as well as avenue to reach other audiences. To effectively communicate your message, you must carefully select the message you send and the method by which it is sent.
