Lightweight Foamed Concrete in Construction

摘要

This paper discusses the use of foamed concrete in construction of buildings and civil works. The foamed concrete is a lightweight material by mixing stable aqueous foam with a mortar mixture consisting of cement, sand and water. Various studies have been done on characteristics of foamed concrete pertaining to construction, such as low weight, self leveling, water absorbency, shrinkage cracking and strength. The material is used as an alternative construction materials such as wall blocks and panels, decorative features, floor and roof screeds, trench reinstatement, road bases and void filling. The study proves that, the application of the foamed concrete is beneficial to the construction industry.
