CREATING WEB BASED APPLICATIONS FOR INSTRUMENT DATA TRANSFER USING VISUAL STUDIO.NET

This paper discusses various techniques that allow the user to create applications that read from a data acquisition card and transfer the data over the web to an application like Microsoft Excel or Access. The techniques that are described in the paper use the Basic component of Visual Studio.NET. The code described in this paper could be used in a Basic programming course or an instrumentation based lab. As part of the paper, a simple DLL is described that allows the user to read from a port. Transferring data over the web comparisons are made between Visual Basic 6.0 and Visual Studio.NET.
