Oxidative-Extractive Desulfurization of Model Diesel Oil By CTA-type Dawson type Emulsion Catalysts

For the first time, in this study, the CTA-type vanadium substituted Dawson-type emulsion catalysts, [CTA]_(6+x)P2W_(18-x)V_xO_(62) (x = 0, 1, 3, 5), were successfully synthesized. They were characterized by means of ICP, FT-IR, UV spectroscopy, XRD and XPS. [CTA]_(11)P2W_(13)V5O_(62), chosen as a best catalyst among all prepared samples, was used to extractive- catalytic oxidative desulfurization (ECODS) of dibenzothiophene (DBT) from two kinds of model diesel oil with H2O2 (50 wt-%) as an oxidant and three kinds of solvents (deep eutectic solvent (DES), ionic liquid (IL), ethylene glycol (EG)). The Taguchi robust was used to study the effect of parameters (solvent type, volume ratio of solvent to oil, temperature and contact time) on the ECODS. The results showed that The ECODS removed 95% of DBT from model diesel oil containing only iso-octane under optimized conditions, IL with the volume ratio of solvent to oil 1:4, 50 oC and contact time 60 minutes for model oil containing only iso-octane as a solvent. The existence of toluene (20 v-%) reduced the efficiency of system and removal of DBT to ~94 % under determined optimized conditions.
