Mass transfer parameters are required for rate based models used in the design of absorption columns such as for natural gas treatment. In these gas treatment columns, depending on the nature of the sour feed gas and on the specifications of the sweet gas, the rate of absorption of one of the constituents to be removed can become locally limited by the liquid side mass transfer coefficient, k_La_e, which then becomes an important parameter. Various methods have been proposed in she literature using physical desorption or chemical absorption.
