The nonequilibrium nature of glassy polymers is responsible for the very peculiar behaviors of such materials in terms of thermodynamic and transport properties, alone or in mixtures with gaseous or vapor solutes. These features are of great interest in many different applications in various industrial fields. For this reason, the study of anomalous kinetics for mass transport processes in glassy polymers has gained a great attention in the past. However, the clear understanding of the physics related as well as the development of a consistent and effective model for its description are still undisclosed.
