Exhaustion of fossil-based fuels and the concern of climate change due to carbon dioxide emission have generated growing interests in searching for renewable energy sources and clean energy technologies. The future success of these technologies largely relies on advancing catalyst development for many catalytic processes such as biomass conversion, dry reforming, oxygen reduction and alcohol oxidation in fuel cells, hydrogen production from biomass or water splitting reaction, etc. To meet the challenges in catalyst development, my research is primarily focused on the study of surface science, electrochemistry and heterogeneous catalysis with the aim to discover high performance catalysts in energy-related catalysis and green chemistry.
