A New Thin Film Nanofiltration Membrane for Mixed Salt Rejection

Membrane technology is a promising platform for water treatment. The commercial grade, nanofiltration membrane (NF), which is manufactured by The Dow Chemical Company, is commonly used for water softening. However, 3M has a unique membrane whose support layer (Nylon-6,6) exhibits certain hydrophilic properties. The objective of this study is to test the performance of a nanofiltration membrane on a 3M support layer. This is the first nanofiltration membrane designed on a hydrophilic support.
