Catalytic reduction mechanism of nitric oxide over activated carbon fibers/copper catalyst

In this work, the catalytic reduction mechanism of NO over ACFs/Cu prepared by electrolytic copper plating has been studied. As an experimental result, it is found that the copper content on ACFs surfaces increases with increasing the plating time. However, a slightly gradual decrease of adsorption properties, such as BET’s specific surface area, in increasing the plating times, is observed within the range of well-developed micropore structures. This result indicates that nitric oxide is converted into the nitrogen and oxygen on ACFs and ACFs/Cu catalyst surfaces at 500? é. Especially, ACFs/Cu catalyst surfaces scavenge oxygen from catalytic reaction. Consequently, it is found that there are different catalytic reduction mechanisms of nitric oxide over ACFs and ACFs/Cu catalysts.
