The report describes a new system which is especially suited for exhaust air volumes with low levels of solvent concentrations. The so-called ELOSORB system combines the excellent adsorptive properties of activated carbon fibre material with a new method of electrical regeneration. The ELOSORB system is used for separating solvents from exhaust air volumes with low levels of solvent concentrations. Due to the properties of the used activated carbon fibre material considerable higher concentration factors can be achieved compared with activated carbon granulate. With this innovative method the carbon filter material is reactivated by electrical current during the process. By applying electrical power the carbon fibres are heated directly and the substances, which are adsorbed during the adsorption process, are desorbed very efficiently. Due to the modular construction, the exhaust air cleaning plant can be adapted optimally to the respective requirements of the operator. An intelligent regulation and control system furthermore offers the advantage that the process can be optimally adapted to the specification of the exhaust air to be treated and furthermore all aspects regarding safety are solved.
