The Age of Collaborative Knowledge Management Systems: A Technical View

摘要

A new age of Knowledge Management and Collaboration is emerging. This paper discusses a vision of future Collaborative Knowledge Management Systems (CKMS) and suggests a set of high-level requirements that most organizations will need, such as standards-based infrastructure, scalability, robustness, distributed processing, portability and platform independence, multi-tier architecture, and security. Further, this paper also identifies the critical system components that are needed to meet these requirements including document management, workflow, business rules, and smart enterprise product models. The paper also highlights current organizational and technical challenges, relevant standards, and emerging technologies that can bring this new age to fruition.
