Vertical Distribution of Radiation Stresses and 3-D Nearshore Currents around Coastal Structures

摘要

Incident waves and reflected and deflected waves coexist around coastal structures, which induce complex currents with three-dimensional characteristics. A method to determine the vertical distribution of radiation stress under the superposed waves is developed using the time-dependent mild slope equation. The product of horizontal and vertical velocity components, which works as a horizontal shear stress, has significant contribution to the vertical distribution of radiation stresses. The present method is applied to three-dimensional nearshore currents around a detached breakwater. The simulated results show good agreement with experimental data.
