Research conducted by EPA at its facility in Research Triangle Park, NC and by EPA, Brigham Young University (BYU), Dionex Corporation and others during field intensive studies in California, Utah and Florida has demonstrated the capability for the semi-continuous determination of water-soluble particulate components ((SO{sub}4){sup}(2-), (NO{sub}3){sup}-, (NO{sub}2){sup}-, Cl{sup}-, and (NH{sub}4){sup}+) and gaseous precursors (SO{sub}2, HNO{sub}3, HONO, HCl, and NH{sub}3) using instrumentation based on parallel plate wetted denuder (PPWD) and ion chromatography (IC) technology.
