This paper is about a comparative study between 3 refrigerants (R12, R502 and R22 because ROMANIA after the PROTOCOL of MONTREAL there is in the 5-th group) and their substitutes, this comparative study not depends only on thermodynamics properties of the substances and depends also by environmental impact. For substitutes we take into consideration substances like pure HFC, mixtures of HCF or naturally fluids (like ammonia, propane, propylene and carbon dioxide). The study makes also a comparison about the equipment, which can be used, in the plants (like types of compressors - semi-hermetical or open; types of heat exchangers) and about the refrigerant load. Also because we can use a lot of substitutes we must take care also about the TEWI number (see the difference between R134 a and R22). So using this kind of analyze we can arrive to a better method for choosing the right substitute.
