Sandesh - A New Paradigm for Modeling Dynamic Systems

Programming languages that are being used for modeling dynamic systems have (either implicitly or explicitly) followed the platonic philosophy while modeling the world and also ignored the aesthetic aspects of programming. As a result, designers modeling the real world have to perform complex code gymnastics for making the model reusable and verifiable. The proposed programming paradigms (to overcome existing problems) took a revolutionary approach for modeling systems. But none of them proposed solutions that were applicable to existing systems and surprisingly none of them pointed out that lack of behaviorism in objects was the root cause for most of the existing problems. In this paper we address the above issues using "Sandesh"- a new modeling paradigm, which also permits both the designer and the user (of the system) to think in a natural and intuitive way about the model, thus reducing development and learning time, at the same time yielding simple, better, generic or reusable and valid simulation models while keeping design, performance and maintenance issues at bay. This paradigm also addresses the aesthetic aspects of programming while retaining the evolutionary nature of the system.
