The water quality of Trout Creek, South Lake Tahoe, California is monitored to assess the system's response to stream restoration. It is the principal endeavor to conduct a systematic evaluation of sediment and nutrient yield before and after stream restoration in the Tahoe Basin. A real-time monitoring system has been deployed to gather turbidity data continuously. Turbidity has proven to be a reliable and cost-effective predictor of suspended sediment and nutrient concentrations. Using a model we developed it is possible to make predictions of suspended sediment and nutrients from a disturbed watershed.
