The architecture rationale is hardly ever documented for legacy systems. This paper presents a model for describing the Architecture Recovery Process (ARP) and defines an outline of an Architectural Recovery Environment. The use of this model allows addressing the concerns with the task of recovering past decisions of architecture for existing systems.
