POD Project: Automatic Classification and Generation of Web Directories

Web directories and web portals are used to manage and organize the extensive amount of information on the World Wide Web. One of the most important features of any web directory is the comprehensiveness and agreed upon taxonomy that represents the categories and sub categories of the directory. These features enable a web directory to be used in delivering ontologies for various domains. The personal open directory (POD) project aims at creating an ample and agreed upon web directory which is extracted and generated under machine judgment. POD project attempts to include a larger number of contributors in creating a web directory by enabling each editor to have a personal portal, leaving the process of extraction and generation of the directories and sub directories to the machine.
