The Performance Analysis of A New Type Detonator Used in Perforation Projectiles

Sensitive electric detonators are widely used in perforation projectiles, these detonators are dangerous in usage and their sensitivities often result in premature perforation. Moreover, their output of explosive energy is asymmetrical to the axis of the projectile. Therefor, this paper suggests that a new type skpper detonator should be used. Both theoretical analysis and testes demonstrate that slapper detonators are good initiators, for their initiation power is as high as several megawatts but their initiation energy is only a few joules. Moreover, they are safe, easy to be control and their initiation energy is symmetric to the perforation projectile axis.
