A X-ray Multi Camera Tomography System (XMCTS) will be constructed for the measurement of the spatio-temporal structure of the spectral-integrated X-ray emissivity (0.1... 10keV) of the W7-X plasma. The position (SHAFRANOV-shift) and shape of the equilibrium magnetic flux surfaces as well as of MHD mode structures can be determined with this diagnostics. A particular objective is the verification of the improved equilibrium and stability properties resulting from the stellarator optimization. As a reference system, the well working tomography system of the W7-AS with 8 pinhole cameras and 32 diodes each is used [Goe98a, Goe98b, Wel99, Wel01].
