Our Wind Temperature Radar (WTR) is a mobile ground-based remote sensing system for the lower troposhere. Profiles of the following physical parameters may be derived: Wind vector; Temperature; Various turbulence parameters; Raindrop spectra; Liquid water content. The WTR is a FM-CW radar (f{sub}0 = 1.29 GHz) with two bistatic radiofrequency (rf) antennas and one single acoustic (ac) antenna. The rf antennas are constructed of 8×8 single horn antennas. The ac antenna is half in size and has 8×8 pressure chamber loudspeakers. The beam steering into the oblique beam directions is achieved by phase shifting of different rows of the antennas. The rf and ac antennas are emitting continuous waves that are frequency modulated with a saw tooth to provide high average transmitted power with an excellent range resolution.
