The biological effects of low-energy neutrons were dependent on the energy spectrum, The FISH method in the exposure of neutrons and 7-rays with 100 different dose rates (0.02-2.0 cGy/min) revealed that the ratio of translocation to the dicentric yield was influenced by LET and the dose rates. No dose-rate effects were found for the induction of dicentric chromosome aberration. However, an increase in the incidence of dicentric chromosomes was observed in the 2.3, 0.79, 0.57, and 0.37 MeV neutrons.
