The use of polypropylene in man-made fiber has grown significantly in the last two decades.Polypropylene is now commonly found in carpeting,textiles,hygiene(non-woven)and in many other fiber applications.Its growth has been due to polypropylene's ability to replace both natural and synthetic fiber.The stabilization of polypropylene for fiber has evolved with the needs and growth of the market.Originally fiber was stabilized with a standard combination of phenolic and phosphite antioxidants such as Ciba~R IRGANOX~R B blends.As applications became more diverse and more demands placed on polypropylene fiber so the polymer and stabilization package has become more sophisticated.Problems such as yellowing and gas fade interaction has increasingly become an issue with standard B-blend solutions.Likewise polymer technology has evolved and today's polypropylene with its often modified structure requires new solutions from the additive supplier.
