The heat and mass transfer performance of a generator using the corrugated-fin type core was investigated for a single effect absorption refrigeration machine with Water/Lithium Bromide system, recovering 30 kW heat from exhaust gas of micro-gas turbine engine. The tested corrugated fin type core, which is conventionally applied to radiator for buses and trucks, has 36 stainless steel flat tubes within the core volume of 160.8 mm width×261 mm length×200 mm height. Corrugated fins made of cupper are integrally brazed in the every clearance of 12 mm between vertical flat tubes. Test results of heat transfer rate and exhaust gas side pressure loss were satisfied with the target specifications. The heat transfer rate distribution and an index for carry-over are shown. It is also found that the tested core is one third occupied volume and one quarter mass of high-finned tube core, under the same heat recovering specifications.
