The University of Georgia began conducting “systems trials” at Tifton, GA in 2001 and at both Tifton and Midville, GA in 2003. The objective of the “systems trial” is to compare yield, fiber quality, costs, and net returns of conventional (non-transgenic) cotton and transgenic cotton (Bt, RR, BR, B2R, LL, etc.). In the “systems trial”, each technology is produced according to its’ specific pest management (herbicide and/or insecticide) regime and following UGA Extension recommendations. This paper presents results of the 4 years 2001-2004. In 2001 and 2002 at Tifton, there were 16 and 15 varieties in the test, respectively. In 2003 and 2004 at Tifton and Midville, there were 15 and 16 varieties in the test, respectively—the same varieties at both locations.
