Increasing research has been devoted to perpendicular recording media, which is the immediate alternative to longitudinal recording. As the grain size in magnetic media continues to be reduced, the long-term stability and magnetic behavior of perpendicular storage media is becoming increasingly important, especially as the superparamagnetic limit is approached. Magnetization reverse processes, which are important for understanding recording quality in ultra-high-density recording media, are of great technological and scientific interest. In this present work, the magnetization reverse processes of perpendicular media under various magnetic fields were observed by MFM. Map of reversed areas within different magnetic fields was located. The magnetization reverse processes with small-range magnetic field change were also studied.
