@@Polymers containing azobenzene and its derivatives (azo polymer for short) have aroused considerable research interest in recent years.Upon light irradiation, azo polymers can show a variety of structure and property variations related with the reversible trans-cis photoisomerization of azo chromophores. Polymers with such properties are expected for the applications in optical devices and other areas. Amphiphilic azo polymers possess interesting self-assembling ability in addition to the photoresponsive properties of azo polymers. This report will communicate some recent progresses in the related study carried out at authors' laboratory.
