Silicon-based photonic crystal biosensors

In this paper, the optical response of 1-D and 2-D Si photonic crystal (PC) is investigated after exposure to various chemical and biological targets. PBG biosensors made of porous silicon have been demonstrated, in particular they have been used to selectively detect DNA, proteins and bacteria.
