A METALLIC MATERIAL, THERMAL DIFFUSIVITY DETERMINATION METHOD, USING COMPUTERIZED DATA ACQUISITION

In case of a heat treatment of a part, in order to determine, by calculus, of heating and cooling operation parameter, it is important to know the thermal diffusivity of the part's material. The paper presents a method of thermal diffusivity determination of metallic materials which is using the temperature variation curves in two axial points of a front cooled cylindrical probe. The cooling curves are obtained using computerized data acquisition, from two thermocouples. Starting from these experimental data, the values of diffusivity as a function of temperature, are obtained, with the help of a computer program.
