A first test of the here proposed approach for geoelectrical salt tracer tests was carried out at the research site of the Institute for Hydromechanics in Karlsruhe-Knielingen. The result of the test showed that the three-dimensional monitoring of the salt plume applying spatial continuous geoelectrical measurements enabled the detection of the transport paths as well as the determination of flow velocities. Simultaneous electric conductivity measurements at distinct multilevel boreholes were not able to give a comparable well defined image of the three-dimensional salt plume and its migration.
