Some period of intense solar events and of strong magnetic storms during 1998 are selected and their effects on the Antarctic upper atmosphere are investigated by using ionospheric data and magnetic field measurements in the frequency range 0.001-1 Hz. The results are presented and discussed as depending on strong solar protons emission with energy > 10 MeV and as function of different magnetic indices such as the Polar Cap index (PC) and the time weighted index ap(τ).
