摘要

Swellable glass materials show unique promise as a new type of functional catalyst support. The advantages to the support material include the following: (1) Swellable glass extracts and concentrates organic contaminants within the matrix bringing contaminants into contact with the catalyst. (2) Swellable glass excludes salts and other inorganic species, thereby protecting the metal reducing agents and catalysts from being poisoned by dissolved ions or minerals. (3) Swellable glass is inert and water resistant.
