The Application of CVRD's Iron Ore at Baosteel

Brazils' CVRD Company is a large integrated enterprise, which was founded in 1942. It is mainly involved in mining industry of iron ore, gold, bauxite and manganese ore, shipping, forest industry, aluminum industry, paper making industry and ferro-alloy industry. Among all these industries, iron ore mining is CVRD's mainline business. Its iron ore reserves are above 34 billion tons, part of which is in Carajas area of North Brazil, and the other part of which is in Itabira area of the Southeast of Brazil. Iron ore products produced by CVRD include fines for sintering, and pellet feed, crushed lump ore for sintering, blast furnace lump ore and pellets. In recent years, its iron ore production capacity has reached more than 130 million tons/a year, its annual sales volume of iron ore has also reached the same amount, which amounts to around 26 percent of th whole world iron ore market, and CVRD has therefore become the largest iron ore suppliers in the current world. China's Baosteel has chosen CVRD as one of its most important iron ore suppliers.
