Applying federated databases to inter-organizational multi-agent scheduling

Distributed scheduling of production tasks among autonomous cooperative enterprises is a challenging issue that requires innovative approaches. An approach to how an inter-organizational multi-agent agile scheduling system can be supported is introduced in this paper, and enhanced with the capabilities supported by an advanced federated database management architecture. By means of a pull strategy, the high-level protocol is used for coordination only, separating control from the data.
