Ruthenium-based oxides are promising electrode material for electrochemical supercapacitors [1-4]. Capacitance exceeding 700 F g~(?) has been reported for hydrous RuO-2 [5,6]. The high specific capacitance in hydrous RuO-2 has been attributed to the mixed proton-electron conduction. We have succeeded in the synthesis of a novel proton-electron conducting layered ruthenic acid hydrate (HRO) which showed specific capacitance close to 400 F g~(?). Here, we report the exfoliation of HRO into individual nanosheets and the electrochemical supercapacitor behavior HRO nanosheets.# 1
