The atmospheric corrosion of confined metal surfaces is of considerable importance in many applications and confined surfaces are found on vehicles, on buildings and other constructions and under paint films. This type of corrosion is important especially for the automotive manufacturer and occurs in crevices, in spot-welded joints and hemflanges, on the car body.
